AI for car care businesses in the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia: what to automate first, and what to leave to people
A paint protection, ceramic coating or detailing business in the Gulf has a particular kind of workload. Enquiries come in Arabic and English, mostly through WhatsApp, often after 10 PM. Each one starts the same way: how much, how long, is the warranty valid here, can you collect from the dealer? Then there's a booking to fit around bay capacity, a quote that depends on the car, warranty paperwork after the install, and a reminder six or twelve months later that usually never gets sent.
Most of that is repetitive, and some of it is worth automating. Some isn't, and automating it costs you customers.
This guide is for owners and managers of car care businesses in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Riyadh and Jeddah, from single-site shops to multi-branch operators and dealer-attached studios. It sets out an order of work, what each step costs to run, and the regional rules to check first. We're Brillnex Systems, and we build AI assistants and automation, including ConGreeto, our own bilingual website assistant. Where we use our own measurements, we say so.
The order: start where the time goes
Ask a shop manager where the hours go and the answer is nearly always the same: answering the same questions, again, in two languages, at hours nobody is paid to work. So start there, and move outward only when that's working.
Step
What it automates
Why this order
1
Answering first questions on the website, in Arabic and English
Lowest risk, fastest payback, no integration needed
2
WhatsApp first replies and lead capture
Where most Gulf enquiries actually arrive
3
Booking requests matched to bay capacity
Needs step 2 working, plus access to your calendar
4
Draft quotes from customer photos
Saves time, but a person must confirm every quote
5
Warranty registration and aftercare reminders
High value, but carries the most rules (consent, timing)
Each step depends on the one before it. A booking assistant that can't answer "how long do you need the car?" won't get as far as the booking.
Step 1: Answer first questions on the website
Before customers message anyone, most of them check your website: your work, your reviews, your prices, your location. An assistant on the site that answers "does PPF yellow in the summer?" or "كم يوم تحتاجون السيارة؟" ("how many days do you need the car?") at midnight keeps that visitor with you instead of sending them back to Google.
This is the cheapest step because it needs no integration. The assistant learns from your own pages and price list. What it has to get right in the Gulf:
- Answer in the customer's language, including people who switch between Arabic and English mid-sentence.
- Display Arabic right to left without scrambling prices, phone numbers and model names, which run left to right inside Arabic text.
- Follow your rules in both languages: "from" prices only, never a final price before inspection, never confirm a tint level is legal.
Most car care businesses don't need a custom build for this. A product does the job. Our own is ConGreeto, and its team has written a guide for Gulf PPF shops on what the website should say. Custom work starts making sense at step 2.
What Arabic costs to run
Arabic used to be noticeably more expensive to process than English. In our own test (14 October 2026, six parallel English and Arabic sentences, measured with OpenAI's tiktoken library), the older cl100k_base tokenizer needed 2.72 times as many tokens for the Arabic text. The newer o200k_base tokenizer, introduced with GPT-4o, needed 1.15 times. Six sentences is a small sample, but the direction is clear: with the newer tokenizer, Arabic added roughly 15% to the token count, not 170%. Check which tokenizer your chosen model uses. We wrote up the full measurement in building Arabic AI assistants for UAE and Saudi businesses.
At current prices, the model is rarely the big cost. As an illustrative example only: a reply that reads 3,800 tokens of instructions and context and writes 400 tokens (including hidden reasoning), on OpenAI's gpt-6-luna at its listed $0.10 per million input tokens and $0.50 per million output tokens (OpenAI pricing, checked 22 October 2026), costs about $0.0006. Ten thousand replies a month would be about $6 in model fees. Your real numbers depend on how much context each reply carries and on the reasoning setting, so measure them during testing. The bigger costs are elsewhere: WhatsApp message fees, integration and the people who handle the leads.
Step 2: WhatsApp first replies
This is where most Gulf enquiries happen, and where automation gets more technical. A WhatsApp assistant uses Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform (the API), not the WhatsApp Business app on someone's phone. That means a verified business account, approved message templates and a pricing model that changed again this month.
What changed on 1 October 2026
From Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform pricing documentation, checked 25 October 2026:
- Meta charges per delivered message, by category and by the customer's country. Messages customers send to you are free.
- The 24-hour customer service window opens when a customer messages you, and each new message from them resets it. Inside that window you can send normal, non-template replies. Outside it, you can only send pre-approved templates.
- Service messages are no longer unlimited. Meta now gives 1,000 free service messages per month per business phone number, and charges from the 1,001st. Unused messages don't roll over.
- From 1 October 2026, Meta "resumed charging, on a per-message basis, for messages that were previously free", including service messages and utility messages sent inside an open window.
- The UAE and Saudi Arabia are priced as their own markets. Meta lists marketing-rate increases for the UAE on 1 October 2025 and 1 October 2026, and for Saudi Arabia on 1 April 2026 and 1 October 2026.
- Click-to-WhatsApp ads open a free-entry-point window of up to 7 days, during which Meta doesn't charge for most message categories.
Rates change often, so check Meta's current rate card for your customers' countries before you build a budget.
What this means for the design:
- Count messages, not conversations. An assistant that answers one question in four short bubbles costs four messages. Write replies that answer in one or two.
- Don't send a template when a normal reply will do. If the customer messaged you within the last 24 hours, reply inside the window.
- Budget for volume above 1,000 service messages a month per number. A busy multi-branch operator will pass that quickly, so decide whether each branch gets its own number.
- If you advertise, consider click-to-WhatsApp ads. The longer free window gives your team time to close the conversation.
What the WhatsApp assistant should do
Answer the first questions from the same knowledge as the website assistant, collect the car (make, model, year, new or used), the service wanted and a preferred day, then hand over to a person with that summary attached. In the Gulf, the handover matters more than the automation. A customer about to spend thousands of dirhams or riyals on full-body PPF wants to talk to someone who knows film.
Step 3: Booking requests matched to bay capacity
Once enquiries are captured cleanly, the next time sink is the back-and-forth over dates. "Can you do Saturday?" "Saturday's full, how about Monday?" "Monday I'm working…"
An assistant connected to your bay calendar can offer real slots, as long as it knows:
- how long each job takes (a full-body PPF install takes days, a maintenance wash hours);
- your country's weekend: Saturday–Sunday in the UAE since January 2022, Friday–Saturday in Saudi Arabia and Qatar;
- Ramadan and summer hours, which change when customers can drop cars off and collect them;
- which branch has which installer and which film in stock.
Bookings should stay requests until a person confirms them, at least at first. A wrong confirmation for a three-day install costs more than the time automation saves.
This step needs integration with whatever you use for scheduling, whether that's booking software, a spreadsheet or a dealer management system. That's custom work, and it's where an AI agent development project usually starts for a car care business.
Step 4: Draft quotes from customer photos
Customers send photos: the car, a stone chip, a swirl-marked bonnet. Using a model that can read images, an assistant can identify the vehicle type, point out visible damage and pull the matching price range from your list.
Be honest about what photos can and can't do. A phone photo can't measure paint depth, can't show every defect under showroom lighting and can't tell you whether a panel was resprayed. So:
- Treat the output as a draft for a person, never as a quote sent to the customer.
- Show the customer a range, with the inspection that decides the final price.
- Log how often your installers change the draft. If they change most of them, the step isn't saving time yet.
Image work is its own discipline. We cover it under computer vision.
Step 5: Warranty registration and aftercare reminders
Film and coating warranties often depend on registration and on keeping to the maintenance schedule. Customers forget both. A reminder at the right time (register your warranty, book your first inspection, your coating is due a top-up) is useful to the customer and brings repeat work to you.
It's also the step with the most rules, because you're contacting people who haven't just messaged you. Before you automate any outbound message in the Gulf, check:
- UAE telemarketing rules. Cabinet Resolution No. 56 of 2024 regulates telemarketing in the UAE, in force from 27 August 2024. According to Morgan Lewis (July 2024), it covers marketing calls and marketing SMS and messages sent through social media apps, which includes WhatsApp. It also sets a 9 AM to 6 PM local-time window, requires consent and a do-not-call register. A "your coating is due a top-up, book now" message is marketing. A warranty registration confirmation probably isn't. Ask your adviser where each of your messages falls.
- Data protection law in each country. In the UAE, Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021. In Saudi Arabia, the Personal Data Protection Law, in force from 14 September 2023 and fully enforceable from 14 September 2024. In Qatar, Law No. 13 of 2016 on personal data privacy protection. Each country has its own rules on consent and on sending data abroad, which matters if your assistant runs on servers outside the region.
- WhatsApp's own rules. Reminders sent outside the 24-hour window must be approved templates. Meta classifies each template as marketing, utility or authentication, and the category sets the price.
This isn't legal advice. Settle these questions with someone qualified before the first automated reminder goes out, not after a complaint.
What to leave to people
Some jobs look easy to automate and cost more than they save:
- Telling a customer a tint level is legal. The rules differ between the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, they've changed in recent years, and published guides disagree. Your tint page should state the current rule with its source. Your assistant should point to that page, not paraphrase the law.
- Final prices. A range, yes. A final number before someone has seen the car, no.
- Warranty claims. Deciding whether peeling film is a defect or damage is a judgement call with money attached. Keep it with a person.
- Unhappy customers. Hand complaints straight to a manager, with the conversation so far attached, so the customer doesn't have to explain twice.

Frequently asked questions
Can AI answer WhatsApp messages for my detailing business?
Yes, through Meta's WhatsApp Business Platform (the API), not the WhatsApp Business app on a phone. It needs a verified business account and approved message templates for anything sent outside the 24-hour customer service window. Since 1 October 2026, service messages beyond 1,000 per number per month are charged per message, so design replies to be short and complete.
How much does WhatsApp automation cost in the UAE or Saudi Arabia?
There are three parts: Meta's per-message fees (set per country and message category, see Meta's current rate card), the AI model fees (often a few dollars per thousand replies at current prices), and the build and maintenance of the integration. For most car care businesses, the message fees and the people handling the leads cost more than the AI model.
Will an AI assistant reply properly in Arabic?
Current models handle Arabic well in both directions, including customers who mix Arabic and English. They understand Gulf dialect better than they write it, so expect clear, widely understood Arabic in replies. Test with real messages from your own customers before going live.
Should the assistant book appointments by itself?
Not at first. Let it collect the details and offer real slots, then have a person confirm. Once the confirmations rarely need changing, you can let it book shorter jobs directly.
Is it legal to send automated reminders to customers in the UAE?
That depends on the message, the consent you have and the time you send it. The UAE regulates telemarketing, including marketing messages sent through apps like WhatsApp, under Cabinet Resolution No. 56 of 2024, and data protection under Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021. Check with a qualified adviser before you automate outbound messages.
